A friend had a great idea while I’m travelling…take part in the Dakar rally. Naturally I won’t drive, but I’m sure I can help out in some other capacity. Since one part of my travel is aimed at helping people, why not the Dakar!
So, I’m placing a post on the forum to see if I anybody needs my help. Just got to wait and see. Worst case scenario: nobody replies and I arrive in time to watch the completion of the Dakar :)

Snorman - get some advice from a travel consultant over a cold beer at the Dros. You sound terribly confused about your future and a link of some kind in the US (friend) would be of great assistance in clearing the muddy water. It is good to tactically change plans while you run, but it could also be tremendously counter productive !

Thanks for the advice Uncle Abie. Yes you are right, I am confused about my future. That is why I want to go travel, to clear my head & re-evaluate.
Fortunately I'm not too fussed about my trip. I've got the major things under control: Flights, visas & finances. I have a rough idea of where I want to go, but I'm planning to organise a first stopping point closer to the time.
I've got friends in California, who I will be seeing when I go to the USA.
Unfortunately I've got so much I want to do, but don't know if my finances will stretch far enough to allow me to do it all.
I realise that I need to post more of my thoughts and plans. I'll start making a point of it.
